We were unimpressed. The "most romantic city in Asia" did have some charm, with its old French houses sitting on the confluence of two rivers, but was not what we were expecting or hoping for from Laos. There were too many tourists, a lack of Lao culture, and everything was much pricier than we'd hoped. So we stayed for one day and moved on.
